Get to know Chelsie
My Experience
I was appointed by our County Commission as County Assessor in November of 2021, bringing with me more than a decade of experience in the Assessor's Office. I began working in the office in 2009 and have served in multiple positions, giving me a well rounded understanding of property assessment and office operations. Since 2010, I have maintained my certified property appraiser designation through ongoing education and training. I remain committed to following Wyoming State Statutes, Department of Revenue Rules and Regulations, and mass appraisal standards to ensure property is assessed fairly, accurately, and equitably.
About Me
I was born and raised in Laramie, WY. I graduated from the Laramie High School and from the University of Wyoming. I left Laramie 3 times and returned each time. I love Laramie, the community, and the people. My husband, Joe and I have been married for 18 years and have two amazing daughters, Taylor and Sammie. Growing up in a family of business owners, including my mom and grandparents, I learned early the importance of hard work, dedication, and serving our community. I am also a proud to be a third-generation member of Soroptimist of Laramie, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering women and girls and making a positive impact in our community.
My Accomplishments
I have worked to improve the consistency and efficiency of the Assessor's Office by developing internal guides for staff, implementing cross-training, and creating a formal proofing system to improve data accuracy. I also rebuilt the County Assessor's website to improve public access to information and began including detailed explanatory letters with Notices of Value to help taxpayers better understand their assessments, including value changes, exemptions, and the appeal process. Moving forward, I plan to continue hosting town halls on legislative changes and working with state legislators to ensure taxpayer concerns are heard. I believe education builds understanding, and transparency builds trust-principles that guide my work every day.
